The Old Testament prophet Hosea warned us about sowing the wind and reaping the whirlwind. The political landscape in 2016 is evidence aplenty that the old man knew something about weather forecasting, but he was talking about something far more serious than the weather. We ignored the warning. We are reaping the whirlwind.
Said another way, the net result of embracing evil can only result in producing more evil. The American political process is the very essence of evil. Morality does not exist among the political elites as they practice their evil trade. The Political Class is god.
Truth, the first victim of the political process, is abandoned in favor of political expediency. In politics, expediency equates to winning the next election.
The desire to win led to creation of the big lie, the greatest lie is the one that Americans should put more trust in politicians than they put in God.
The stock in trade of the politician is money. Possession and control of money enables those who worship money and power to attain and keep control of the reins of government. The pursuit of power became a contest as to which politician could gain the most support from the most voters. This process created class warfare where the politicians pit groups of people against each other.
In this fiction, the politician portrays himself as the savior of one group over another. But he can only do the saving if voters elect him or her or it. Their hypocrisy is heightened by their claims to be public servants. If politicians are public servants then orangutans can be brain surgeons.
In order to further their nefarious goals, the politicians distort the Christian principle of charity. They have successfully equated government wealth redistribution schemes as just and moral acts. This redistribution is tailored to groups at the top and bottom of the socio-economic scale.
The bankers and businessmen buy favorable legislation for their efforts. The poor are provided groceries, housing, and medical care. The vast middle class gets the privilege of paying for it all. Wallowing in the affluence it created, the middle class sits idly by and ignores the political realities that are becoming more and more evident.
We have come to accept the income tax, government agencies that restrict freedom, the minimum wage, government schools, environmentalism, abortion, and a redefinition of marriage.
Christians and the exercising of their religion are becoming taboo while the excesses of Islam are ignored, even embraced. Traditional behavior norms are no longer acceptable and tolerance of the most egregious behavior is celebrated among the masses and enforced by the court system.
At the heart of all this is our rejection of the eternal principles established by the One who created us and the natural universe. Unless and until we turn back to God, unless and until we put our faith in Him, unless and until we acknowledge, affirm, and require a return to the eternal truths, we will continue to suffer the whirlwind predicted by Hosea.
